Our story

Born in a pub, and built by the community

The UK OSINT Community was established to unite professionals across the UK who rely on open-source intelligence (OSINT) to inform their work. As OSINT has expanded beyond its public sector origins into industries like law enforcement, journalism, and financial services, the need for a dedicated community became clear.

Our mission is to foster collaboration, promote ethical practices, and advance OSINT capabilities across the nation. We focus on establishing standards, sharing knowledge, advocating for responsible use, enhancing resources, and developing talent. By reinvesting all our revenue into these efforts, we ensure our community remains vibrant and forward-looking.

Funding

Funds come exclusively from Community philanthropic donations, and corporate sponsors (which are listed on our 'Partners' page). As a volunteer-run Not-for-Profit, all UK OSINT Community funds are reinvested into the community membership. Examples of expenditure include:

Event catering and venue hire
Hardware / software subscriptions for media content and in-person events / roundtables
UK OSINT Merchandise for members
Reasonable operational expenses
Safeguarding fund, supporting vulnerable members with transportation costs (e.g. taxi home after attending evening events hosted by UK OSINT Community)

The UK OSINT Community does not accept donations nor sponsorships from (nor does it fund) lobbying groups nor political groups.
